When two or more players lose but have the same number of points, who gets higher place?
I played hundreds of games (in general) and I still couldn't identify how it's calculated.

None. The players are tied, see for example: https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=414088152

Alright, one appears above the other, but that's probably random or based on player id or joining time. For all that matters (i.e., elo score), the players are tied, as you can see when you hover their elo scores.
