Hello everyone! I love Homeworlds!

Is it possible to skip restarted turns while watching replays?

Thanks!

As far as I know, skipping restarts in the BGA replay will require overhauling the client-server interaction so that restarts are never even shown to the opponent. It's possible, and I have it in mind as a long-term goal, but it will be quite a lot of work.

In the meantime, you can copy BGA logs into this tool and get "Homeworlds Live" format (without restarts).

Then you can import the game record into the Homeworlds Live sandbox for restart-free reviewing.

Would u really want to do that? I think it's interesting to see what options the player was considering before committing to one. It provides insight into what they were thinking.

I know this is an old thread, and it has been implemented the ability to skip to the next completed move. I just want to say, yes I do enjoy watching moves that are pondered, but sometime watching 20 times flipping through the same 2 or 3 pondered options can be tedious, and sometimes you just need to cut to the chase as it were.

I find it interesting too but I'm not convinced it's actually a good thing. If one player starts doing something then realises it provides an opportunity for the opponent, and then does something else instead, they may have just telegraphed the opportunity and a new idea to the other player through something that isn't even an actual move in the game. If I want to be sneaky and keep them guessing, I might have to plan it out with my IRL pyramids
