Regional settings

It would be cool to have settings to only play with other players on similar time zones or regions. This could be a setting in the profile or when creating a new game.

I currently have an issue that I joined a game with a playing time frame of 8 - 20, however in my time zone this is 0 - 12.
Yes, I should have noticed that probably before joining the game, but well...

Now besides the problem that this game is frustratingly slow for all involved players, I also have the issue that I have been timed out very quickly while just being asleep. I understand the reasoning for timing out players, but I disagree with that permanent red clock, even when the player returns to the game.

Which specific table # are you referring to where you think the playing hours shown on the table are not in your time zone? Playing hours are shown in your own time zone to avoid this issue.

pretty sure the hours were shown correctly in my own time zone, that's not the issue. looks like I just didn't pay enough attention, and this also happened to player #3 who's in the same time zone as me.

https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=416004895

so the one who created the table with his preferred gaming hours, ended up with 2 guys from Europe who are both asleep during most of his gaming hours.

this suggestion is NOT targeted for players like me (who join games without looking closely enough), but mainly to "protect" player #1, who created the table with specific settings.

Rather than debate this, I'll just point you to another thread (definitely not the only one) discussing this issue.

Thanks for the link. The linked debate is rather old and locked. The reason mentioned there, why this suggestion is rejected, is „ because not every person in the same time zone also has the same play times“. That is true, some prefer playing in the morning, other in the evening or at night. But, instead of rejection the suggestion, why not allow every user to define their preferred playing times (as part of their profile settings) and show a prominent warning, if the tables playing time and the players preferred playing time have no common time slot? So, instead of comparing with the players time zone (which may differ, if the user is traveling or using different devices with different time zone settings), the user can define his/her own preferred playing time.
