Screen rotation on Android Chrome (App)

I often play BGA on my Android phone. If I use the regular website via my Chrome browser, I can rotate my screen and the view will also go to landscape view. This is useful for many larger game boards.
However, I can also use the "app" installed on my phone (which I assume is some sort of Chrome downloaded website app?), but then the automatic screen rotation doesn't work anymore. The app works like a charm and I like it a lot, but I really miss the ability to rotate the screen.
Is this a common thing? Or has anyone found a way to still rotate the screen when using this "app"?
