Not true, you just need to wait for 1p to finish the race. And in 2p, you can concede as soon as 50% of game progression is reached, as for any game on bga

It is TRUE. Saying that you can leave when there's a winner IS the end of the game and no one plays 2 player.

This game is fun but unforgiving. 2 mistakes or bad luck and now you've got a hour long commitment to losing. Please BGA allow a concede in 3+ after 50% of a race save everyone's time and enjoyment.

This has nothing to do with BGA. You will need to convince the publisher for that to be implemented here.
We discussed about this during developpement and current behavior is what we settled upon with publisher.

There are always players that fall behind in nearly every game, including the games when you're in the lead.
If everyone concedes in this situation then hardly any game will finish naturally.
You joined the game to play it. So do that. Win or lose. And you gain more experience from the games you make mistakes. This particular game is designed to punish mistakes harshly. Take it or leave it.

Well there's always the case where real-life intervenes. I was playing a real-time game and something came up that required me to leave. In real life I would just take the car of the grid or replace it with a legend. Here I quit and it ruined the game for everyone else. Just give me the option to concede, take the rating loss and let everyone else continue with their race.

Hmmm. If you time-out then this is what happens. I believe that means you just need an automatic time-penalty instead of quitting the whole game.

Thinking about it, why does 'quit' even exist? Players can choose to abandon collectively...

No you can still play of someone quits. But all others be considered winners and their real rank will be ignore even if they finish the race

It doesn't quit but it does trigger an exodus of people who will try and find a game where they can actually gain some rating. In my case I had to leave quite early in the game so that meant that players only got 10% of their normal rewards. If it just removed me from the grid and penalized my rating, ideally replace me with a legend, the rest could still have a competitive race.

Abandon collectively because one player out of 6 has an emergency will never happen with strangers.

Unfortunately the bga framework doesn't allow us to do what you want. If it was possible, we would have done it
