Arena Highscore?

Post by Kavorka »

Hello all,

Interested to determine what is the max possible score in Arena mode? (2 player, no OPs)
Has anyone calculated this theoretically?

Also perhaps we can get there experimentally, please share your highscore!

If there is a prior thread on this please share.
Thanks!

I'm pretty sure it's nowhere near the record number, but my best ever across 300+ arena games for 2 is 118 (https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=449651482).

Also had a couple of 116s and 115s.

Had a 125 : https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=442862187

I also had a theorical 128. But my opponent withdraw 2-3 turn before the end. So not an official score, even if calculation made it clear.

Impressive win! Bien Fait!
28 Bonus card points is crazy.

If you won round 1 bonus that would put you at 127.

Can anyone beat 127/128?

I can't beat 128, but I did win an arena game 123-110, which may be a hard number to beat for highest combined score. Mind you, my grassland engine was both effective and quite generous to my opponent, so that had a lot to do with both of us scoring well. My opponent remarked that it was the most he'd ever scored in a loss.

Don't know what kind of magic happened in this game, but it was quite mind-blowing: https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=453270901

Sadly it wasn't me that got the 145 score (!!).

WOW and that also blows my combined score out of the water as well.

Just watched the replay of that game. Crazy. And they started off with a red-headed woodpecker and a Ruddy Duck. A Ruddy Duck they used exactly once. That starting hand doesn't exactly scream, "I'm going to score 145!"

Yeah, well, if you have a wood duck and an egg layer in the forest, that's what happens. Plus the other guy feeding you via hummingbirds early to get the combo going.
And yet, this game (145-101) wasn't the highest combined score I remember seeing. One of the top players had a 132-124 game.

Suppose in a 2-player Wingspan game you could stack the deck beforehand however you want, and also your opponent is collaborating to give you the highest possible score. So you can imagine that the opponent plays only cards that benefit you, like hummingbirds, pileated woodpecker, spotted sandpiper, American oystercatcher, etc. I'm sure it would be possible to exceed 200, perhaps even 300?
