time invisible when it's not my turn

I'm playing on Opera, so apologies if this is a browser-related issue.
When it's my turn, my remaining time counts down in red at the top of the screen. When it isn't my turn the remaining time is shown in the little box under my name, with all the other info. HOWEVER, there is a little black hourglass RIGHT ON TOP OF the timer, and it PERMANENTLY and COMPLETELY obscures the time remaining.
I would really like to be able to check how much time I will have during my next turn. Is there any way to move / hide / get rid of the hourglass - which seems to have no function anyway!
