I would like to create a translation for a game which has no translation at all. I would like to write it in french, as it would be easier for me. Is it ok, or does it have to be in english?

The tutorials are written in English, as the website, and they become available for translations in all languages when (if) they become the official tutorial of this game.
Technically, you can write a tutorial directly in French but it will not become the official one.

Which game is it?

The base text should always be in English due to translation issues said above.
For example, game developers have to use English as the base language while developing the game, even if English version doesn't exist yet.
So, short answer: No, English only.

Don't be too shy, your English seems pretty good to me! You might also use a free online translator as https://translate.google.com/ or https://www.deepl.com/translator in order to translate or check.
