Is it safe to say that the XP number is meaningless and without relevance for playing here?

What is "the XP number"? I don't know of any Catan feature called "XP" or that can be abbreviated that way. Is this a Catan question?

They are referring to a site wide feature which you cumulatively get for various 'achievements'. And yes, it has no significant effect.

Ahh, seeing the other comments, it turns out this is a boardgamearena feature that is not related to Catan.

I've been thinking about what suggestions to make for the site, to nudge people to post about site issues and questions on the main forum rather than on a game-specific forum. But to make a good suggestion, it would help to know _why_ people post questions like this on game-specific forums - I can only guess. Some of my guesses are: Person thought the feature was only for one specific game. Person only plays one game and is always on the same forum and forgot there are other forums. Person didn't notice what forum they were posting on and meant to post on the general discussion forum. But I don't know how common these reasons are, and there may be others.

Could you help by letting us know why you posted this question on the Catan forum?

A tutorial is definitely not what I have in mind, but to make good suggestions for a feature that could mitigate this, it is worth learning more about why it happens.
