Board Game Arena

So I am in Platinum status and I keep winning arena games that give me zero arena reward. Why would I match with someone when I have nothing to gain by playing them? Can I stop this from happening?

I also, played someone that was elite (26th place) and he beat me and I lost 3 stars, the most I think I should lose would be 2 from what I could understand of the rules.

Any veterans mind explaining a few things to me?

Playerbase is too small. That's one of the consistent problems with arena.

Half my games are matched with people 500+ ELO lower. I literally gain less than 1 ELO point and 1 arena point from such games, and it's not even a remotely fun or interesting match.

Sadly, no, there's no way to stop this from happening.
