out of time expelled a way to win

I've been with BGA for a few years. Maybe I just never was confronted with this, but I was used to asking people when they go over the time limit, if they are ok. I now had it a couple of times (and friends are telling me it happens to their games more often).
I was playing Ark Nova (which is on the heavier site). Both times I was way ahead in points and had no time penalty throughout the games. The last turn can be tricky if you have a combination of 2 or 3 turns in a row, with resetting often taking you back to the beginning of the whole turn. While clearly taking my turn ,the moment the time warning showed and I am trying to rush, the other player kicked me out to claim the win (mocking the fact that I now had lost).
I know it is your responsibility to keep up with the speed, I just find this particular move very against the gaming spirit. There is no way to communicate to BGA or other members that this player is behaving in such a manner. Of course I am not only losing the game, but also taking a Karma loss.
Not sure what can be done (yes, yes play faster I hear, but going once over the limit in the last turn of a 1.5 hrs games just to grab a win sounds wrong).

Not an uncommon complaint with the way turns work towards the end of Ark Nova (there have been several threads on this already). Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do - you either choose a slower game speed or you hope you have a reasonable opponent. You can red thumb that opponent and others who you think are behaving poorly, which means you won't meet them again (except in a tournament setting).
Depending on exactly what their "mocking" comments were, you also have the option to report them.

As nik592 said, I've seen at least two other threads on this issue in relation to Ark Nova. Did this not come up in alpha/beta play?

sorry I didn't check the Ark tread. My friends had that going on in other games too. Good to know that I was lucky so far and it didn't happen that often to me.

That wasn't intended as a critique. I didn't see those posts in the Ark Nova sub-forum (I haven't played on BGA).

I don't generally look at game specific forums unless I have a question - the threads I mentioned were posted here in general as well. I assume there may be more in the Ark Nova forums but I was just commenting that you're not alone in that feeling, but if you check the other threads, you'll see that solving the problem isn't as easy as you may think (the developer has weighed in to at least one to explain some of the difficulties).

You understand the rule but you don't think the rule should apply to you? Do you also feel that about certain strategies, that opponents should not be allowed to play moves that you don't like?
I don't want this to be harsh but in two player games 'clocking' is a perfectly legitimate way to win. Its important to understand that. There are issues with BGAs timing (particularly the way it works in multi-player games, sometimes the implementation in specific games) but they broadly are not issues with the the players - a player can and should use the time to win if they want to, there is nothing wrong with that.
Having said which, if an opponent then mocked you in the chat, that absolutely is an issue and you should report that.

Are you sure your opponent didn't make suboptimal moves because they were trying to stay within the time limits? If that were the case, do you think it would be fair for you to be allowed extra time to find the best move while your opponent was rushing?

You don't have to take your complicated tripple turn and restart it 5 times just to squeeze out the last point. It's super annoying for the opponent, especially if you re already winning. I kick those players as well. Managing your turn time is part of the game like in chess. You run out of time, you lose

To those who mentioned kicking players out is legitimate.
We are playing board games here not professional chess or such. If you're at a group and the last turn takes too long, are you throwing the board and declare you have won?
If you're opponent takes too long throughout the game, and runs out a lot, that's a different discussion.
I understand you are agreeing to the time limit, but this was for me to get the game moving along, I am not talking about tournament style.
If you know this game is lost, no one stops you to open another game, or just concede it (if those games like mine where obviously lost) .
Also, as mentioned in the original post, it's a heavy game and not Incan Gold or No Thanks, and we are not talking a 15 Min wait time here, I am sure that extra Minute or god forgive 2 minutes, the wait must be unbearable.
I am very surprised by those comments. I guess I am learning something here.
