Board Game Arena

Hi all,

Once you set your preferences for a game - when you go to the lobby, will only games with your preferences pop up? I'm trying to learn some games - and while I don't mind playing with all levels, I like to stumble around the first few with people my level.

I know I can start my own game (with my preferences) and have people join - but can I join other tables and expect them to be the levels of my preference?

Creating a table with restrictions does not prevent you from joining a open table with different restrictions.

From the old lobby ("Play Now" / https://boardgamearena.com/lobby), you can see many of the settings for the table from the table listing, and the "view" button will take you to the table page to see the rest.

From the individual game pages, clicking "show X tables waiting for players" will show you the list of available tables, and then you can click on individual tables to see the speed and game-specific options. If one can see what the table restriction options are from there, I haven't figured out how.

I haven't used the automatic matching options & so can't speak to that.

As far as I know, preferences are only used in terms of automatic matching - if you choose games manually, it's up to you to ensure you're happy with the settings on them (whether or not they match your preferences).
