Not exactly constructive criticism.

What exactly do you expect to change from this?

It's just to inform people that details would be more helpful. It's a very broad message - it's broke - there are a lot of constituent parts to the website. What exactly is broken?

I sense some message you're trying to tell me by holding up a mirror to my statement. If it's meant to be clever in some way, then that's lost on me. Is it my fault it is broken?

This seems like a tough medium to be in... digital board gaming. You are in between two larger industries, video gaming and table top board gaming but getting neither full buy-in from either camp.

I think digital board games offer some unique and underserved consumer needs, those who love board games but cannot find a physical player group to play them with, or those who cannot afford to buy every board game they are interested in trying. So here you can bring two things together, disparate people and offer them an opportunity to try board games that they may physically purchase in table top form later, or perhaps they just prefer playing board games online rather than in person anyway.

It must be a very tough niche to serve because there just doesn't seem to be a great enough demand for digital board gaming just yet. That said however, I would hate to see us go back to the days where there are no digital implementations of board games. During Covid lockdowns I am sure it was a lifeline of sanity for many.

I wish there were a way to make this sub-niche of table top board gaming more viable and thus attractive so that there were as many digital board gamers as there are table top board gamers; because I believe digitizing board games and making them available for online play is doing a lot to boost the board gaming hobby in general.

I'll name a few issues.

Recent changes to ELO calculation - most were bad ideas in the first place, yet they were still implemented and are still in place even after players gave a ton of negative feedback immediately. Communication has also been completely insufficient. (Thread: https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=33785)

Arena Season 15 ended with a ton of bugs, some of which were acknowledged but not fixed, and some were not even acknowledged. Thread: https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=34262, specific comment from BGA staff:

I want to acknowledge the issues concerning the end of Arena Season 15 that have emerged in the past few days and explain a bit what happened and how we managed the situation.
...
No response to lots of important bug reports. (I'll put one of mine here: https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=107164)

Site maintenance, server downtime more frequent than before (no source for this, just personal observation).

Can we touch on hanging loading screens?

Lobby is taking forever to load, so are games - what's going on?

All other websites working without issue.

Just reload the page when the website is freezing.

Genius - why didnt I think of that?

Of course I tried this - the servers must have been * earlier, but they are recovering slowly now.
