Any Hacks for Creating a Best n+1 Out of 2n+1 Format?

Mathew5000 has come up with a hack to have staggered round robin matches even though the tournament module ostensibly wasn't designed for this. Is there a hack for having each match in a tournament (2-player games) be best n+1 out of 2n+1? This would be nice to have for high-variance games.

Sadly I don't think so (Cribbage supports it directly, but that's a custom implementation).

Another thing I have long wished for is the common videogame tournament system of "double elimination".

If you lose, you go to a loser's bracket, and if you lose again you are out. I like this better than pure single elimination, and it provides a balance between brute force swiss tournaments and luck-influenced single elimination.

Unfortuantly this will never happen as BGA don't believe in improving their tournament structure. They have abandoned it for nearly 4 years now :(
