Hello all, this may be a question beyond this game but I was looking at two games that seem extremely similar (3 player games with a ~280 elo player, ~40 elo player, and 1 elo player) yet in one game the player in first with high elo gained 11 elo, yet in a very similar game the player in first with high elo (me) gained only 5 elo. I have not played these opponents before so the repeated win diminishing elo rule seems to not apply. Can anyone explain?

It's not shown any more since they changed how they display Elo gains, but it's your "K factor".
Your first 11 games (of any game) have a K factor of 60. Your Elo gain / loss is multiplied by 60, meaning more variance when you win or lose. This is to accelerate you getting to your "correct" rank faster.
Games 11-21 you have a K factor of 40, and from games 21+ it's 20.

You're already played 21+ games so all your gains and losses will have less variance.
