Board Game Arena

Probably a question for thoun, but does anyone know if the discard pile already starts off with cards in it? And does anyone know how many cards that would be please?

In this game, I was able to use Miraculous Catch to draw Flamethrower from the discards, yet it never appeared in the shop. https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=476266162

The discard pile is empty at the beginning

So if that's the case, how did Flamethrower enter the discards?

That's really strange, I checked the replay and I can't find the explanation.
