Board Game Arena

Can anyone tell me if I'm missing something or this is just yet another thing that doesn't work at all on BGA.
I set up a table set to "Very restrictive - I only want to play with players with a high reputation (75☯ and higher)."
It started, and yet there is a player joined with 73% karma.
The last time that player lost karma was 2 days ago, so it is not that they lost more karma after joining.

Do the table karma restrictions not work?

I didn't want to directly call out a player unnecessarily. If you have the table link, does it help you to see why it might not have worked for that table?
I was otherwise more looking for if people can give their own general experiences, like
"No, the karma limits never work, known bug."
or
"I have set up 100s of restricted tables and never seen this problem."
or
"They work but you have to do (convoluted undocumented way of making them work)."

are you the host/creator of the tables? and do you know you need to set this preference on each game (i.e. it won't carry over from backgammon to othello)? I've never had this problem.

I've looked at your current tables and I don't see any that are restricted to >75% karma. There is one table restricted to >50%. Did you use "Play now" lobby?

No, created it from the game's page. Where can one see the karma restriction of a table after they have been started?

There is a BGA logo (cloud thingy) in the top left corner of every table (with a table number and a move number next to it). If you click on it you'll get to table overview page. Karma restrictions are shown at the top of "Players at this table" section. For some reasons karma restrictions weren't applied to your table. Did you use any flexibility options when you created it?

Thanks. It should say "Access restricted to" there right? Then the settings didn't bite. I'm 100% sure I input the setting. No flexibility options on that setting, no (is that even possible?). The only thing I can do is be even surer (110%?) that I really enable the setting and see if it happens again.

My impression is that trying to match people to existing tables is not always honoring all requirement, and that (sometimes) someone trying to open a new table is placed into an existing table (which may only partially match their request). These may be incorrect interpretations on my part, but may be worth keeping an eye on.

Flexible settings are possible for some things, like game speed -- there's a slider with crossed arrows to the right of the speed slider, which is locked if left&grey, and flexible if right&turquoise. Flexibility on karma restrictions less likely.

I havent found the settings to reliably work, I took other people's advice and started to play arena - I haven't encountered a single quiter or unpleasant player since.

The only downside to this I have noticed is that some games take longer to find players. It would be good if you knew how many active players were playing and searching for games you're planning to start.
