What is the reason for giving points to translator, but not to a person who corrects misstranslation?

No complain, but I am just curious why would that be this way? Doesn't it incetivise translating even when you don't know the correct name of the card in your language, while giving no incentive to correct wrong translations?

Probably because it would start a "translation war" when you change, he changes back, you change back, ... and win a lot of points each doing it ;)

But if somebody gets it right and another person changes to a wrong transletion u wouldn't get points. Maybe u could recive penalty?

I agree entirely and have missed out on many of those points myself. I didn't just do it for the points but it is still not particularly motivating.

I think you misunderstand how gift points for translations are earned. Please check the translation rules: https://boardgamearena.com/faq?anchor=faq_translations

If you translate a text and this translation isn't changed for 30 days, the translation is considered 'validated' and you get 1 gift point for it. Otherwise, if the translation is corrected within these 30 days, the 30 days validation period starts over again. If the text isn't changed in this second validation period, the proofreader will get the gift point (and so on).

Of course people could fight a translation war, but as long as the text is changed within 30 days, no one will get a gift point for it.

Do I understand correctly that if somebody misstranslated and nobody changed it for 60 days, misstranslator gets the point and no one else can gain any more points?

Or if after 60 days he is corrected, his point remains, but someone could gain a point if he corrected the mistake and it stayed for 60 days?

Yes, but it's only 30 days.

Yes. Once someone gets the gift point (after 30 days without change), it won't be taken away. Once the text is validated, it can only be corrected by experienced translators, but they won't get any gift points for that.

While this system made some sense before the alpha and beta stages, now it doesn't make much sense anymore.

I regularly encounter games with bad translations (by the one doing the implementation). Those can't be corrected while in that early stage. But games stay in alpha for a long time, so those bad translations get 'validated' by not being changed - and nobody can gain anything for doing the correct translations.

OP is right in this system being a bit weird

I am not sure what you are talking about. As far as I know, games are only open for translation if they are at least in beta state and thus open to the whole community to play and check.

In fact, the developer/publisher/admin can translate the game even in alpha.
But, in this case you shouldn't worry as they are very likely to follow the official translations for obvious reasons.

Anyway, generally the translations are available since beta.
So, if the bad translation has survived 30 days without any edit, it means players didn't bother much or no one using that language knew translation HQ.
