Board Game Arena

More than any other game I play on BGA, Ticket To Ride players join and almost immediately quit the game that they JUST joined. It's always pre-game start so there's no penalty, which I think there should be a small one.

Why does this happen?

I always face this issue! As in, I am one of those players who join a game, then immediately quit, sometimes multiple times in a row for the same game.
I join a table, and if it was 3+ players I watch the seats getting filled, then suddenly "I" quit (the game quits by itself as if I left the table). I see my seat empty, and the chat log says that I left the table. If I was quick, and lucky, enough to grab my seat back it might quit again, and again, until it goes through and the game starts, or someone else would grab that seat before me.
I always assumed it was a feature to give preference to premium members, and I looked at the forum but only found this thread https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=34559 where they assume that people are quitting willingly. It is really annoying, but I cannot complain since I'm using this site for free.
I would be interested to know if someone else is facing the same issue, or if there is a reasonable explanation.

PS: I mostly play TTR but I've faced this problem in other games as well.

I have experienced the same thing, where I join and then BGA says I quit the game but I don't understand how- I never left the page! Can be very frustrating. Worst on games like TTR and TTR:Europe with very fast moving tables. I don't have this issue on other games.

Possibly, the table creator is booting you for whatever reason and the log is misleading.

It happens to me lately. I join the table, then a message appears saying I left the table and I did not. That was odd.

This happens to me all the time. Today, I joined with my friend, who just setup a new account. It happened to my friend also, twice. I always assumed it was picky players who reject games because they are set on a certain type of opponent. However, having read this thread, it seems like a defect/glitch in the game and maybe the whole site.

Can Board Game Arena comment on this and pursue resolving this problem? It has been an issue with me for over 15 months. I play quite a bit on ticket to ride, and I do it for free but sometimes it takes over 10 minutes to get a game and often I get others quitting on game starts several times before a game gets accepted.

I actually discontinued my Premium membership over this issue.

Too frustrating to deal with this.

I have been in the 'I' quit when I didnt or it won't let me join

Almost every time I create a game of Ticket to Ride US or Europe I always see a red error pop up the first time the game goes to the "Play" screen that says "Unexpected error: Wrong table status for this command (setup) (2) (reference: PA 14/07 09:22:45)" and then I see that players "quit". And then it goes back to the lobby where I then see the same people who "quit" rejoin, so I'm sure its a bug.

Most likely it is an issue with the servers not being able to keep up with the traffic and then table setups are getting confused on the back end. Probably check on the bug forums to see if BGA has addressed the issue there.
