Board Game Arena

Last Season I was 2 times arena champion but (at least in 1) I'm still not a Guru and therefore not able to suggest/vote for arena formats (https://boardgamearena.com/gamepanel?game=draftosaurus)

Doesn't it make sense to add some portion of arena top players as well? For casual games it might be even the case that no Guru is even playing arena and have no point in voting/suggest arena format.

In my understanding, guru-ship is reserved for those who play most frequently. In that case, it does make sense for the ones who spend the most hours to choose the ongoing format.

It does not make sense for someone who doesn't play in Arena to choose the Arena format, as Calmon said. You ignored the detail that playing lots of hours in any format, not specifically Arena, makes you a guru.

Players who don't play arena need to be able to become gurus and influence future arena formats. Otherwise arena can stagnate in a setting that only a minority of users enjoy.

Agree. I love arena, but some games I only play simple because I really don’t like settings in that particular arena

Which is why the system does not work the way the OP suggested and should not work that way. It is best that Arena is determined by the most prolific players, regardless of whether those players play in Arena.
