Board Game Arena

I'm in Australia and I've had many cases now where I run out of time overnight, often when I am winning a game, and I get removed. I try and join tournaments with ample player time but if a game goes long enough, the 8 hours or so when I'm asleep add up since the EU/US players often take their turns early in the night here. I feel like I am at a disadvantage on BGA because of where I live. Is there anything I can do to make this preventable or do I have to just avoid tournaments, which would be disappointing?

I'm also in Australia and have the same problem. I don't take any tournaments with less than about 2-3 days of playing time, adjusted depending on the game (eg. I will play Can't Stop Daily tournaments which have 24 hours of play time, but they run pretty quick usually, whereas if I was joining a tournament for Ark Nova, I'd probably be going for 3-5 days of time). Otherwise, play as much as possible during the day (but I assume you're already doing that too). And then pray for courteous opponents. And vote for the suggestions on improving timing options and/or booting rules in tournaments (this post: https://boardgamearena.com/forum/viewto ... 91#p162091 has a nice summary of them).

The other thing to note is you only get 4 karma penalty for tournament bootings, even possibly if you have multiple within a short time. I've never noticed any impact on my karma that actually impeded my ability to play anywhere else, and I soon gain back the points lost to penalties. But I suspect that like me, you're not concerned about the penalties (some people REALLY are, which is why I mention it), you just want the chance to finish your games. Believe me, I get it. There's not a lot of control in our hands though.

If you're premium you can start your own tournaments and set "playing hours" to suit the times you are awake. I live on the west coast of North America but I tend to stay up very late, so my own preferred hours should overlap with someone in Australia who goes to bed relatively early.
