I'm Gold and lost to a silver, i lost 5 stars. from gold 5 stars to 0 star. WHats the mechanism of this? can anyone tell me?

You lost against a bronze player, that's 2 leagues below yours, so you lose 3+2=5 shields. The bronze player won 5 and reached silver after the game, but that doesn't change the result for you.
