Can't do anything because of venom

What to do? I cannot play a card as I cannot pay for venom...playing cards would increase the pause tracker, but I don't have money to pay for venom.
Normally, I should be allowed to move a card with venom on it to position one, do not gain an x marker because I have 5...but that's it.
However, I cannot take the "move 1 card to position 1 and gain an x marker" as I already have 5.
