Board Game Arena

I do not understand the pairing system in arena. If it is supposed to be a competitive game mode, why can you match with the 10,000th place player then the 1st place ranked player in back to back games? The que times are very short... why not increase them to get better matches?

you can set it to elite only if you queue up via the play now page with the right preferences

Can someone give me a step by step for setting it to just elite on arena? I'm technologically inept lol

Or is this a premium member feature?

click on play now -> set it to arena at the top -> click the cog wheel on azul -> set it to "I never want to play with" on all the players level options (might be hidden under advanced options, not sure) and then only queue from that page

So that's another thing... I've already have it set for only strong players and above in both arena and play tables and while it works for play tables, but for arena tables I keep getting matched with beginner players. I'm wondering if it doesn't matter for arena?

yes, that's the confusing part - it doesn't apply to arena

you have to queue from the play now page, else it won't work
