Setup Positions

BGA I am curious if you are tracking stats on game setups? I think you need to look at stats of certain positions and setups in this game. Olympia with Rhodes and Hali to left and right is just not winnable. It would be nice for you to provide setup and average points and final game positions of people playing it across the site. Some setups and distribution I don't care how strong a player you are, you can't win with any opponents with basic knowledge of the game.

You will likely have a better response posting in the forum for this game or directly contacting the developer for this game (who is listed on the game's main page) who determines which stats are tracked for their games.

It's just a quick party game, even if you are stuck with that supposedly unwinnable setup, you will be out in 5 mins and can start a new game.

The stats page t the end of a game is handled by the developer. Decisions on rules changes are handled by the publisher/designer. So you are addressing this to the wrong people.

7 wonders

As another poster says, it only lasts 5 minutes

Also unwinnable is a bit harsh...it's the worst possible setup but you can still get lucky on the cards or your opponents play badly

Olympiad is a bad design but its not the end ofnthe world

Since we are in discussions, that could be done for all games about the % of victory when you start first/second/third...
Then in some games you got a color fixed for some players. Sometimes that color is linked to first/second player to play, other times it tells which faction or similar the player is playing.
So that could be extracted automatiquely in some cases too.
I could be wrong but I don't think that's the case for 7 wonders.

I get the party game reference, but this is a gaming site. This is not apples to apples or codenames. This is a strategy game and people come here specifically to play. Seems if that is the case, the site should be making it worthwhile to compete and play so I respectfully disagree.

It's not about the timing of the game. I know how long a game last. My point was people are coming here to play the game, at least have setups that give people the opportunity to compete and win. You are correct...you can get lucky, but most of my games are against the top 100 and the luck/mistake level is very low. I don't mind getting beat, I just want to know I have a chance. Certain setups in this game are in my opinion not winnable against any opponents at that level.

If there is indeed such a glaring and obvious design flaw in the game like you claim, maybe it isn't that strategic after all and is just like apples to apples or codenames. Also it really isn't the responsibility of the website hosting the games to fix these perceived balance issues. Maybe take it up with the designer and they will print a new balance patch for you, which will eventually be adapted online.
