Too strong for average ?

Discovered today that I'm too strong for the 'average tournament'.My rating is a little over 300.There are players with rankings of over 1000,so I thought I was roughly average ! 
Average is defined on BGA as 100-300 rating, so if you are above you are ineligible.
There is no one over 1000. No.1 is currently sitting at 889 (which is still insane btw.).
You are probably confusing Arena rating with the general ELO.
