Board Game Arena

I keep trying to join arena games but it just keeps looking for more players and seems to never start.

For the record, other games start fine, just hear that seems to not let me in lately.

I finally got connected to one... But still seems odd to have to wait forever on a regular basis.

It's getting towards the end of the season, it will pick up again when the new season starts

Yeah, I'm having that problem now. I really want to try this game but I can't seem to find a match. I can't play solo since I don't have premium.

Try different settings (fast/normal pace for for real time game, 1 turn a day for turn based).
Real time depends on when are a lot of around to play.

If you go to the game page you can see games waiting for players - when I checked earlier there were both turn based and real time available.

If you're still having issues, we can probably rustle up some players for a game - although it wouldn't be the easiest opposition!

It's frustrating to wait for other players... in itself, it's not a problem, but when you're waiting for 15-20 minutes (you dont know when exactly), it's normal to do other things in the meantime, and you don't always notice when the game starts. Today, I was kicked twice after a long wait because I just didn't notice that the game was ready... There should be some system that gives extra time to start the game, for example, you should have as much time to respond as the time you had to wait for the game to begin... or find another solution, Because of this, my karma dropped, and as a premium player, I can't start games anymore...! And I've never intentionally left a game!

Yeah, I know what you mean. It happened to me the other day too. Thankfully the other players graciously just abandoned the game.

They should improve this somehow. There are many ideas, maybe if the waiting time is longer than, say, 5 minutes, you would still be waiting, but you wouldn’t get penalized if you're not there anymore. Or perhaps some additional confirmation could be required to check if the players are still available/aware that the game is starting. If not, they should be removed and replaced with new players. Otherwise, it ends up penalizing active players, which further reduces the player pool...
