Suggestions Regarding the Country/Region Selection

Hello! I am a Chinese player of BGA, and my many Chinese friends and I very much enjoy BGA’s games and deeply love this platform. However, we have noticed that the way countries/regions are classified on the platform may cause some misunderstandings.

As is well known, Taiwan and Hong Kong are both parts of China. Taiwan is a part of Fujian Province in China during Chinese history, now Fujian is a province in China, and Hong Kong is a Special Administrative Region of China. Therefore, we believe that the option to select “country” or “region” should be more clearly distinguished to avoid any confusion.

We hope that BGA can consider this point and make appropriate adjustments to the country/region selection on the platform to better reflect the reality and avoid misleading players.

Thank you for your attention to our feedback. We look forward to your response and consideration.

Seeing as it is so well known, the current options of "Hong Kong" and "Taiwan" should be sufficient.

Although I suppose if we want more "clearly distinguished" options, I could get behind adding "East Hong Kong" or "West Taiwan" for those living between those two areas.

The definitions from ISO 3166-1 provide the foundation for the country definitions that we employed. It is a set of standard codes that define the names of nations, dependent regions, and geographically significant localities.
On boardgamearena, the term "country" will be interpreted as follows.

Since the topic may lead to endless debates that are outside of the scope of an entertainment platform, I have locked it.
