Anyone else feel like "gg"s are more annoying than good sportsmanship? If you lost and want to send me a "gg", fine. But if you watched me get slaughtered by bad luck and then send me a "gg", I'm not sitting here typing "glad you enjoyed".

I understand your point but you don't have to take "good game" literally. If someone says "good morning" when you wake up, it's not supposed to be taken as a quality assessment of this particular morning; it's simply a greeting. In turn-based games, I do like it when an opponent says gg so that I get notified to look at the table and see how it turned out. In real-time games I don't care either way but sometimes it feels weird to just close the window and leave without saying a word.

It bothers me when I get slaughtered and they just leave and not even give me a "gg". That makes me feel like they're not even acknowledging my existence. I very much prefer they say "gg" (or anything else). But I won't judge them if they don't.

Funny how all the people who say "gg" only do it when they win.

This is not true. First of all, I do it even if I lose (if there has been previous communication). And when someone else does it even when they lose, they get a green thumb, not that those are worth much anymore.

Out of 650 games I’ve played, I’ve only ever had two people tell me when “gg” when they lost to me. So, when 99.7% of the time, only the winners say “gg”, then yeah, it seems my bias has been confirmed empirically.
