Board Game Arena

I have only ever played with the peaceful variant.
Do the Arena games ever use that?

Arena games don't. But the other matchmaking system allows it in the settings (which it looks like you've discovered).

I would say there's not a huge difference. Jump in and try it

Technically this is the kind of option (along with player count, what maps are playable, if players have the same map, etc.) decided by gurus (those who play the game a lot) near the end of each arena season. And as it is a variant in the available on BGA, I imagine they could decide to implement it. But for this (and every arena season thus far) they have decided not to use the peaceful variant. So I find it unlikely they will change it, not that my opinion holds any weight.

Players don't like eagles (free turns). Peacefull mode bring more of them at a cheap Price (hypnosis) so you probably won't see that mode in Arena.

That is an interesting point.

The non-peaceful mode seems annoying. I was surprised that it was the standard for Arena but I can see how the eagles are more despised.
