ELO displays as ~~

What causes your rank in a game to disappear and become ~~ instead? I was happily climbing ELO on a few games and now any game I play the ELO number disappears and where it should be reads two tilda signs and no number is displayed. I thought it might be a bug but I left it a week and it still shows like that.
