Points lost in abandoned tournaments?

I recently noticed a loss of 32 points from one game to the next and can't figure out where it came from. Could it be from an abandoned game? I didn't abandon the game; another player did. There were 5 players in the tournament, and I was out of time. Just trying to understand how that works?

The tournament setting was
- 10 days max for the whole game
- 2 days for each player (5 players)
That means that the next round will start 10 days after the start of the previous round, so the games still running will be abandoned automatically. This happened in your game.
The winner and the following players are placed in the sequence of the remaining time - for the tournament and for ELO. Current victory points do not count. Apparently you had the most negative time and therefore came in in last position. For ELO matter that means that you lost versus each of the other 4 opponents. Because you had the highest ELO the 4 losses were quite big.
I think the losses didn´t count to 100% because the game was not finished to 100%. It was finished to (estimated) 40%, so each loss was reduced to 40% as well.

Thanks for that explanation. Since I live in a different time zone than most other players, I might have to avoid the big games

Looks like it was a 5-player Wingspan game, with an overall 10-day limit. I imagine very few games in that tournament are going to be able to be completed in 10 days - as you say, the different timezones make it super-difficult. Looking at the tournament page -
https://boardgamearena.com/tournament?id=306371 - only 4 out of 50 games actually finished properly in the first round.

I agree with MrDoctor; the issue in your tournament was that the tournament creator specified a max game duration of 10 days which is just not enough for five-player Wingspan (or even three- or four-player Wingspan, for that matter). If you look for tournaments where the max game duration is 30 days, you'll have a good chance of completing the games. Here's a five-player Wingspan tournament from last year:
https://boardgamearena.com/tournament?id=220080 The majority of games were completed but there were several that ended early because of an out-of-time player being kicked. My conclusion was that five-player Wingspan tournaments are not feasible on BGA because of the timing. I like four-player Wingspan tournaments, though. For example, the settings of this one (beginning in one week) look very playable:

Also please upvote this suggestion to allow game duration longer than 30 days:
