Player intentionally playing slowly in friendly mode

Is there a way to report for this behaviour? It isn't covered under any of the report options (although it is covered under one of the thumbs down options).

He's intentionally taking 30 minutes between moves since it became clear that I would win, even though we are in the last round and probably have less than 5 minutes of actual gameplay left. When I view his profile I see he has 7 turn based games open, so it's obvious he does this all the time.

Friendly mode games are essentially infinite time limit. There is literally no penalty even if you leave.

You may have an expectation of finishing such a game in realtime, but that is not BGA's intent -- you can just red thumb the person and finish the game in a day or two, or leave the game if you do not have any time to play in the future.

If you want to start a friendly mode game and play it realtime, make sure to ask your opponent when the game starts if they believe they will have time for it.

The only reason I'm playing in friendly mode is because that's the only way to play with Prelude option in Terraforming Mars.

This isn't turn-based, friendly mode is still a real time game. What this other player is doing is abusive.

Prelude is an alpha / beta option, which means it should only be played for testing purposes. If you are concerned about time limits, it is advised to wait until the expansion is released.

In this case, if you do not have time to finish the game later, you have two main options:

A. Use the top right menu in the game to vote to switch to turn-based mode. If the opponent rejects this, you can also:
B. Just use the top right menu option to quit the game, which will have no penalty in friendly mode. You can then give the person a red thumb so you can avoid them in the future.

Sorry about this frustration.

Time is not so much an issue, instead people are quitting TM Prelude games deliberately just because they have a bad start or opening draw. Happened multiple times to me today. I'd say maybe 1 in 2 prelude games go the distance against supposed "perfect" rep players.

I get it's still technically being tested in Alpha and im not wanting there to be any rep penalties as could legitimately bug out. But there should be at least some repercussion for wasting everybody's time and quitting deliberately. Like time them out for 10-15 mins so they can't just jump back in hoping for a better start.

So frustrating and really spoiling a great add on to the game.

Prelude will eventually stop being in alpha and then there will be penalties as normal. Penalties aren't applied during alpha because things can go wrong and people can be unable to finish a game.

Your option is to red thumb the people who are doing that, and hopefully you will avoid them. Or wait til Prelude is out of alpha. I get it, I love TM, and I think Prelude is essential, but it goes through the same alpha phase as any other game/expansion.

In friendly mode people can do whatever they want and you need to accept that. Just don't play friendly mode and wait for it to go to Beta. Or find players with a mutual understanding BEFORE you start a game with them ;)

Why is it "intentionally"? Maybe they have other issues to attend to, and they joined a friendly mode game precisely because it would allow them to take 30 minutes between moves with no penalty.

In any case, if it's clear you'll win, just quit the game. You'll gain nothing (no karma, no elo, no improved stats) by finishing the game, and if you're not enjoying it, just quit.

I fail to understand why people play games without time limits with internet randos, and then goes surprised pikachu face when said internet randos engage in their typical behavior.

Also people treat alpha as early access when it's meant to be for testing to make sure the game works properly
