So you've signed up for a BGA Studio account and have volunteered to be a dev for a game you deem worthy, right?

This would clearly not slow down the influx of games. That is a choice BGA made, to allow tons of games on the service, with the caveat that some may be mediocre.

It's an issue digital store fronts typically have as well, e.g. Steam.

There are about 600 games on here I've never played. I'm not harmed by their presence. If "no one" plays them, then they aren't cannibalizing the player pool for other games or significantly impacting server performance.

One benefit I can think of is giving new devs projects to work on to hone their skills for "good" games.

The OP's lack of gratitude that completely ignores the hours of volunteer work by devs is grating. I'll hazard a guess that the OP thinks Strands is a "lousy meh game."

Also, people have different tastes. What the OP perceives as mediocre may be a great game to someone else and vice versa. The other point is that BGA has allowed me to try some games I've thought looked interesting, and I've been able to say either yeah, that is a mediocre game that I don't want to play again, or that game is ok, I wouldn't mind playing it occasionally, but I'd rather just play it on BGA than add a copy to my real-life game collection.

It's no wonder that with over 700 games on the platform not all games appeal to all players. Your post specifically names 2 games you appear to enjoy at least. That's great! Focus on those games- we are glad we were able to bring them to BGA for you to enjoy for free with players from all over the world. You can add all of the games you enjoy to your Favorites to easily find these games.

However, the tone of this post is quite unfortunate. It is devaluating the game designers and publishers efforts to create games, their willingness to allow us to host them on BGA, the developers time and energy spent to make this happen, the game reviewers who gave feedback, and the others on BGA who do actually enjoy precisely those games that you personally do not.

It is perfectly fine and normal not to wish to play all of the games (I am more of an outlier here than you, as I actually have played them all) on BGA. But please try to remain polite when discussing these games in the Forums and other channels, and be aware of how your words can potentially effect others.

We are very grateful for the designers, publishers, and developers who help BGA shine through its large and diverse selection of boardgames. If it weren't for them, I never would have discovered many games that I personally was surprised to like so much (Caïrn, Flowers, Orchard, Donuts...) because they do not fit into the type of games I naturally gravitate towards. So once again, Merci to those involved in expanding our game catalog- whether I personally Favorite your game or not, I am glad it is here!

Why is that annoying?

Just play the ones you like.

Xate, that's amazing! Quite the accomplishment.

I agree. BGA should focus more on quality rather than quantity.

BGA themselves don't program the games, that's done by volunteers. So... knock yourself out.
