Arena Scoring?

How is the 1st place arena score listed as like 1500 points and second place has ZERO. How does that work?

Arena points are only displayed in elite, in the other leagues what's displayed is the number of shields/stars (0-9). Only the first player is in elite, the others are still in bronze.
