I made a Yahtzee tournament for my friends and didn't quite understand.d how the system works, I set it to start in a week (August 26th) but I just woke up to a bunch of messages saying that games have started. We didnt reach the maximum number of players, so I'm not sure why it would have started early, but it definitely has.

That's really weird, this looks like a bug that I've never encountered before. I assume the tournament you're referring to is https://boardgamearena.com/tournament?id=317871

Here's a screencap: https://snipboard.io/XL8Jbu.jpg It clearly says that the tournament start time is 2024-08-25 at 20:00 (America/New York). But that screencap was taken on 2024-08-19 at about 11am. So why has the tournament already started (and in fact, is 93% complete)?

I went ahead and created a bug report: https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=134477 Please ask anyone affected to upvote the report at that link, to increase the chance that BGA's developers look into it.

The way it's supposed to work, and the way it's always worked for me when creating turn-based tournaments, is that the tournament does not begin until the scheduled start time (even if it reached its maximum enrollment earlier than that). The emails to participants, I believe they go out one hour before the tournament begins.

I've set up a lot of tournaments, and I've never seen that bug, ever!

Okay so I did a but of thinking. Is it possible that the setting "Registration opens X Days Before Tournament" overrides the actual start date?
Let's say you have a tournament schedule for a month away, and you se the "registration opens X days before start" value to 14, for 2 weeks, but you open registrations 21 days before the tournament for whatever reason. Would the tournament then start at the specified date OR the date 14 days after opening registration?
