Perhaps it has already been noted somewhere before, but I would like to ask you to disable the automatic selection of the discount, at least for cases when it is obviously excessive. For example, when buying free ingredients or when the discount is more than the cost. Since there is no undo, cases of wasted discount are not uncommon.

Re: Discount autoselection
it is a feature you can turn off and on. But the whole thing, not just one individual discount if that's what you were asking. You can also turn them off individually by clicking them.

I understand, but
I would prefer the discount automatically disable itself in case of redundancy.

I have made the decision not to have the buttons work differently in different contexts / gamestates. This is a conscious design decision to have discounts either default to off or on. There is no "smart discount" and I do not believe it is in the best interest of the people playing a game online to have something like that. I continue to recommend manually selecting your discounts to apply - it's not that much work.

To my shame, I didn't notice switching discount feature at the time I started the topic.c12h22o11_ wrote: ↑28 August 2024, 00:28 I have made the decision not to have the buttons work differently in different contexts / gamestates. My excuses. I think, that option should be enough.
Re: Discount autoselection
Wait, question, even free items burn up your discount? I thought when they didn't apply they were automatically negated....
Re: Discount autoselection
Are you saying like -1 ingredient discount even triggers on basic grain that's free? If so, I don't really see the purpose. Sure you don't want automation playing the game for you but they're has to be some sense not to apply itself to things that aren't even applicable.c12h22o11_ wrote: ↑28 August 2024, 00:28 I have made the decision not to have the buttons work differently in different contexts / gamestates. Also let's say you have a -1 and a -2 discount and buy an item for 1 or 2, does it use up both discounts?
Why have a feature that will really cause more problems?

Re: Discount autoselection
Because people kept asking for it. I would gladly delete it. There are warnings in place that should stop you from over-applying discounts. The game will show a red warning that says it has been discounted below 0. The thing is this is possible so I can't block it. Imagine using glassworks to discount a mason jar by 2 (from 1 to -1). This should be allowed. Why have a feature that will really cause more problems?
Similarly, if you had the Korean distiller and Malt Mill, you could buy millet (cost 3) for 0 by using both of your discounts, for an effective cost of -1.
Point being - this is an area where I believe it is not possible to make everyone happy, so I have taken what I believe is a reasonable position - in both cases you have to be mindful of the discounts you're using.
Re: Discount autoselection
Ahhh, yeah warnings in place seem fine if they actually stop you.
