Enjoy even more biodiversity with Forest Shuffle: Woodland Edge expansion

Dear players,
starting today, Forest Shuffle is getting even richer in biodiversity! Let's welcome Forest Shuffle: Woodland Edge!

With this second expansion, we're introducing 36 all-new cards:
At the edge of the forest, hedges and bushes offer protection. The undergrowth rustles and cracks, small game changing paths, grazing and rushing off again. On top of that, the new species add tremendously to the game play.

Like the trees, the shrubs here on the edge act as a habitat for various species. While the European Polecat prefers to be alone, others like the Digitalis enjoy some company. Keep an eye out for the Eurasian Magpie, who may be dragging your desired card from the clearing in another player's cave. The woodland edge is full of new forest creatures, as well as some familiar ones venturing out of the undergrowth. Have fun exploring!

The second expansion of Forest Shuffle is scheduled for release at SPIEL 2024 next month. Asmodee and international distribution partners will be able to provide you with copies shortly after.

However, this expansion is live on Board Game Arena NOW!

We are already looking forward to your feedback!

Special thanks again go out to @firgon for the development and all the players of our test group for their tireless efforts!

Thanks for the new expansion! Really lifts the value of bats and squeakers.
Looking forward to be able to combin both expansions. Hope it will be possible soon!

What specific new gameplay mechanics or strategies do the 36 new cards introduce in Forest Shuffle: Woodland Edge? How do these cards interact with the existing core gameplay and the first expansion? Block Blast

It seems that its not possible to use both expansions at the same time?

That’s correct, not for the time being. The editorial team tested shuffling both expansions into the base game and yes, it works.

But as you will have to discard a bigger number of cards from the deck during set up, chances are high, players would miss out on certain colours to gain bonuses or bonus actions. So to give you all a chance to explore each deck properly and get familiar with the new species, we keep them separated for now.

Depending on your feedback and requests, we might add a „choose both expansions“ option in a few weeks. Until then, enjoy playing!

We are enjoying the second expansion very much and would be delighted to have both expansions in one game!
Imagine the possibilities! ;) :D

Wolves are still overpowered. This expansion hasn't seemed to tame them as much as the Alpine expansion. I have tried several strategies with boars/squeakers, bats, and butterflies and I have still lost to anyone going for deer/wolves almost every time. I think both expansions mixed together in full with all discarded cards coming form the base deck would finally get rid of the problem.

I haven't played the new expansion enough to fully informed, but I agree with the above posting that it doesn't tame Wolves/Deer enough. I don't know that Alpine tamed wolves/deer so much as it boosted other strategies enough to compete. I enjoy how the shrubs interact with butterflies/bats, but... they aren't great enough score increases to compete with wolf/deer. Alpine had Newts that could really boost butterflies. It had the tree that scored for Alpine symbols, also seemed strong.

In Woodland, the squeaker/boar seems complementary rather than a primary strategy.

But then again, I might just not be good enough yet :)

I, too, would like to play with both expansions
