MOD X, also known as Rival X, created by Mark and Joan Wilkinson, is now in public Alpha, any feedback or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Rival X is a turn-based strategy game of making the following three types of patterns to score points: The X, Plus, and Five-in-a-row. A player uses five of their X-pieces to make any pattern, and immediately after a pattern is made, each X-piece is replaced with a one-point square marker. Points on the game board do not block play for the spaces they occupy; therefore, any X-piece can be played on any point, in the attempt to make a pattern or block. An X-piece played on a point, that does not complete a pattern, does not cancel the point. A point can only be canceled if the X-piece played on it completes a pattern. In these cases, each point with an X-piece played on it from the completed pattern is canceled, as the completed pattern’s points replace them.
Players also have the option to make Combination patterns which score higher points. A Combination patterns is made when the placement of one X-piece completes two or more patterns, of which there are hundreds of combination possibilities.
Players also have the option to combine their X-pieces with Wild X-pieces to make patterns. Wild X-pieces combined in patterns do not score points, instead they are repositioned, after points are placed, to any open spaces to setup the player for a future pattern. Exception: A player instantly wins, if the repositioning of Wild X-pieces completes the X, Plus, or five-in-a-row pattern, using only Wild X-pieces.
There are three ways to win. 1. In a two-player game, make enough patterns to score 15 points, 12 points in a three-player game, and 10 points in a four-player game. 2. Instantly win by completing any pattern using only Wild X-pieces. 3. The Blockade Win: On the turn a player runs out of X-pieces to play, which happens when players focus more on blocking than scoring, the player with the most points wins!
Rival X’s rules are simple to learn and intuitive, and though simple in concept, Rival X offers the best of strategic gameplay through its one-of-a-kind scoring system, pattern options, and use of Wild X-pieces. In each game, players will experience the intriguing interplay of positioning, blocking, and tactical maneuvering as they protect their points and experience VICTORY THROUGH PATTERNS!
