Chrome Extension to remember you have Vet (among other cards)

Hey all,
I got sick of forgetting I had Vet, so I wrote an extension to remind me about it (and a few other cards).
https://chromewebstore.google.com/detai ... dghfhgeefj
It just adds a banner under the action cards. You can see an example on the BGG post I made:

Let me know if you have any thoughts or suggestions

Hah! I just have some custom CSS for Vet, which doesn't guarantee that I'll remember but does help.
Code: Select all
@keyframes blink_border {
50% { border-color: transparent; }
}
.bgagame-arknova #card-S203_Veterinarian::after {
content: " ";
position: absolute;
left: 42%;
width: 31%;
height: 14%;
border: 3px solid red;
border-radius: 8px;
animation: blink_border .5s step-end infinite alternate;
}

Works like a charm. I deeply appreciate the other cards memos as well. Like hydro/geologist, and planning money with them in mind.
Some might argue that it takes away from people's skill of remembering stuff, but I prefer to have these reminders, for both me and my opponents. Let us play our best.

Hello, looks like good extension. Is it possible to add localization to other language?

I agree. It's best if it suits the current language!

Ryan, this is awesome! As a more casual player and one who usually has multiple turn based Ark games and tournaments (some of which are 4 player) going at the same time this will help save me time checking my notes and the boards, especially when it takes multiple days for the action to get back to me. I'm excited to test it out! Thanks for sharing with the world.
As far as suggestions: Where did you end up drawing the line about which cards to include? For instance, Hydrologist and Geologist but not Aquarium and Cable Car.

I don't know. I added a handful over time based on requests/feedback. I didn't want it to just be every sponsor, but those that you're more likely to need to plan around. Happy to hear a case to add some more!

Huh, that's interesting. I can't think of an easy way to achieve this (without just manually adding in a bunch of word translations), but let me think on it. Is your card art in your local language? Curious if I can easily piggyback off of what's in the page state.

Should be easy enough. You're presumably looking at elements with class ark-card-number and the next element in the DOM is a div with class ark-card-title-wrapper which contains a div with class ark-card-title whose contents are the localised title.

Yep for example if I set BGA to Chinese, will see this game and cards in Chinese then. And also in a few other languages!
