Why does this implementation use French-suited cards?

Schnapsen is played with German-suited playing cards.

Depends on where you are from. Here in Vienna we use the French set almost exclusively.
I am somewhat puzzled by the other versions though:
The "Hungarian" version is known to me as "doppeldeutsch" (double-german) and is mainly used in Bavaria and the west of Austria. (PS:A quick search revealed that both designs are very similar).
The "German" version is something I have literally never seen before?!
