Time limit when losing

I am not sure if this is the right forum to inquiry about my issue. I usually play with friends but have started playing others on BGA. I understand that when some chooses FAST, they want to play fast. Even if the notification comes up that they are not playing quickly I never throw them out of the game. But towards the end if they are going to lose they show no consideration that I take a little bit longer. Instead they throw me out to get the win. Should they not get bad karma for being so vindictive.

No. They did nothing wrong. You instead did not make your moves in the allowed time and lost.
Even if you could have expelled them and didn't, that was your choice. You chose not to win the game when you could, they chose to win when they could. You're free to give them a red thumb, though.

Ooh vindictive is a new word to describe someone enforcing the rules. I don't think I've seen that one used so far in the numerous clones of this post.

The good news is you as a player can stop these vindictive players from being able to boot you100% of the time: Don't run out of time on your clock.

Thanks for the feedback. I personally still don’t understand how the win could feel like a win if won by stopping the other person from finishing. I would think one would rather win by playing well not by denying someone a few more seconds of play time. But I will either play with friends or others at normal speed in the future.

The other person's time is not less important than your need to win.

I don’t ever have a ”need” to win. I play seriously and play to win but my main goal is to enjoy playing boardgames. I just think when over 90% of the game has been played it should be played to completion by all players. Especially in a game that had less than five minutes of play time left. But I will stick to ”non-fast” to avoid annoying others who are pressed for time.

Congratulations, you've just encountered the famous Schrödinger's timer of BGA. The timer is meant to be a competitive feature, but it's not competitive, because it's not enforced automatically. The timer is meant to be a friendly reminder to fellow players, but it's not a friendly reminder, because you can be booted any time it reaches zero (as per the rules, of course). Don't try to understand the quantum nature of the timer. Just remember, that when you see 00:00 on your clock, the superposition will collapse and you'll either continue playing or lose.

This needs to be pinned.

I feel the same way, but I am capable of recognizing that 1) other people feel differently, 2) they are acting within the rules and thus there aren't and shouldn't be any penalties, and 3) my personal philosophy governing how I want to interact with other players is not objectively
better, just different.
