Who is the winner in a 3 players’ match when a player was out of time (or quit this game) and lost this game and BGA message say « all other players will be considered winners » but the tournament is set as Multiplayer Elimination with only one 1 qualified player to keep for each match. In this case, are the two remains players qualified even if the tournament is set for only 1 qualified player per match or is it only one player ? How does BGA choose between the two player left ?

In the situation in which player quits or is expelled, the advancing player is chosen by oldest account. It appears you have the oldest account.

Another situation can occur that the maximum round time us reached without finishing, but also without someone being expelled. In that. case the player with the most time on their clock advances.

Although I recognize that a choice has to be made, the fact that I could be eliminated through no fault of my own (like your opponent who didn't quit) is why I only play two-player games in tournaments.

It seems not fair for the other player. Is there a suggestion that have been opened about this issue to improve the situation for 3 players tournaments ?

How would you suggest it should be resolved instead? I don't disagree that it's unfair, but when another player needs to be eliminated from an unfinished game, how should it choose which one?

Randomly would be more fair. The same way byes are assigned randomly instead of by account age.

That way both players not at fault have an equal chance. In fact, I think this way is objectively inferior because it gives the older account an additional way to win not available to the younger accounts.

The game was abandoned automatically because the players did not manage to finish it before the next round of the tournament. The player with the most remaining thinking time wins the game."

This is the case when nobody skips.

This is correct if time simply expired.

But it also says "Player Phynec was out of time (or quit this game) and lost this game." The text saying "or quit" confuses things because actually quitting, i.e., going into the menu options and selecting "Quit this game," is different from merely running out of time and is handled differently.

Why not keep the victory for the player with the most time on the clock ?

Because if you happen to be a person for whom the player before you typically plays somewhere during your sleep time, your clock will tick down more than others. Geography of the players also seems like an arbitrary and unfair decider, but that's typically what it is (though admittedly harder to nail down who will win without watching the game play out).

The other possibility that that works poorly for is (for example), a 4p game, where player 1 takes their move, player 2 NEVER does, and someone boots them before the game ends. Players 3 and 4 have a full clock and will win (and still be tied if we're only looking for a single winner), and player 1 will be eliminated simply due to the draw of the player order.

I'd agree that purely random would probably come out fairer than most other suggestions.

I have never seen Meeplelowda provide any evidence for their claim and people on the forums have certainly claimed counter examples that indicate it is randomly determined. Probably one of the biggest issues is clear information from BGA that specifies how various time breakers etc are resolved.
