Is this a bug? or am I missing something?

Just started this game .. random championship.
the circuit card is simply "All driviers start the race with an extra Heat card from the reserve in their Engine spot.
I approached the first corner ... with press on it ... at a -1 limit adjustment. So .. speed 6 corner. To get the sponsor card, I played speed 8 ...
And the game seems to think I need to pay 9 heat to cross the corner?? O.o

(I'm looking at the button with the "9" on it by heat?)
That said, however, once I moved, it calculated it all properly: cost 2 heat, and got my sponsorship card.
