Due to the rules, each specie can have up to a three traits. But in the game it's possible to add only two. IMHO, the game lost it depth Is it a bug?

Eaty is correct. If you were limited to only two traits, you were playing the two player variant. If you wish to play with the standard rules and be permitted three traits per species, you must play with at least three players.
