Seating order...who is on my left/right?

This probably should be part of your FAQ. I've been digging around and didn't find a definative answer. I thin the player beneath me is on my left, but just not sure. Since many games have effects that are based on seating order, it would help to know for sure.

It's decided by the game's implementation, but typically the player beneath you is the next player, which is also typically the player on your right.
Again, this is game-dependent.

Did you really mean on your right? If so, this is very counterintuitive because at a real table the next player is on your left as in most games the action proceeds clockwise around the table.

No, sorry, I meant left. Good catch.
It rarely matters, though. In almost all games, it just matters who goes next, not which direction that is.

I still think it matters for ease of knowing who is next at a glance. Because at least at my game nights we are seated around a table instead of stacked on top of each other.

We're saying the same thing, almost word for word. It doesn't matter who is left or right, just who is next.

I think you're assuming that once you know who's next you're not going to forget. If you
currently know who's next, sure it doesn't matter whether they are shown on your right or left. But if, say, you were playing a slow turn-based game and load the table three days after your last move, I'd argue that for ease of reacquiring the information of who's next ordering the players clockwise is helpful.
But many games on here other than card games don't arrange things in a circle, so ultimately that doesn't help for many of them.

I'm not sure why you're arguing. It doesn't matter who is left or right, just who is next. In practically every game, that's the next player on the player list after your name and, even easier, your name is almost universally first.
Even in mobile, just rotating to landscape mode shows the list and the log. The log makes this even more obvious because it shows who just played.
I'm not really intrested in debating further, especially when we already agree on the only point that matters. You're welcome to have the last word.

I didn't parse that you were saying it doesn't matter what's shown on the "board" area of the screen because the player list is always there anyway. I agree you can always get the next player information from the list and I'll leave it at that.

It matters in Gonuts for Donuts. One card says, "all players pass a card to the left". I don't know which person is on my left, so I can't make an informed decision.
