Can't win for the Germany

Really, it's very difficult task to win against experienced player.(don't tlak about newbies)

You have to be very lucky, for example, get a card "move tank and infantry together, then begin the battle".
I also noticed that Germany gets too few points. Germany could give 2 points for Berlin instead of one. Moscow is cost 2 points.

I played for Germany a lot, and even conquered some part of the USSR (south or north), but not completely, and the USSR reborned
Then he still won on points. Especially since he has a lot of cards for 1944, to get points.

The idea is interesting, it looks like a real history, but there are dsibalance.

If you don't destroy USSR by the spring of 1942, you lose.

Games: 24
Wins/Lose 17:7
USSR: 14:1
Germany 3:6

I don't agree.
Try to play vs the 1st ranked player on BGA, you will lose as Axis, as Allies, with or without luck :geek:

PS: Historicaly, winter is bad for Axis, so yes, it is better to win with a blitzgrieg like in France.
Soviet human waves are "unlimited" (21 millions of dead).

I agree, the game is not well balanced, but it is still fun to play.

The issue is the game only becomes more difficult for Axis so, if you don't get a hold of the situation (meaning at least 2 star locations) by end of 1941 then the Soviet can just sit tight, reinforce and keep the advantage whilst you will still try to advance at a big cost.

I think Axis could benefit with a larger hand size given the fact that the cards are split between 2 factions and that it needs to be more reactive and to apply pressure in different areas at different time. The Soviet just needs to have cards to react and put units on the board and that's all they need to worry about.

I won games as Allies even with players that literally trashed me when I was playing Axis against them (ELO 400 or more).

Some told me they have never been defeated as Allies.

If I have some time, I will try to add two new statistics :

- Victory as allied
- Victory as Axis

So we will check win rates.

Knowing the real outcome of the german/russian war, this could simply mean that the simulation is somewhat realistic.

It would perhaps be possible to set wining objectives that mean you performed better (or worse) than the real opponents.

I have some difficulties to propose such objectives, as I am just starting my first game, but this could be for example :
[*] Germany wins if Berlin is free of russian troops in 1945
[*] Germany wins if there are no troops in the regions surrounding Berlin in 1945
[*] Germany wins if there are no russian troops west of the 1941 border in 1945
[*] Germany wins if there are supplied german troops east of the 1941 border in 1945
[*] etc... etc...

May be present winning rules do satisfy one or more of these examples, I have not checked.

it seems like this may be true, i saw on bgg that a few forums mention this imbalance. even giving Ussr a 70% advantage skew.

But as a strategy gamer myself i did not want to believe it, so i made a few lobbies with myself being forced as the axis. i noticed the game felt good when i drew atleast 2-3 cards that were free actions, and just let me get a lot more done. but in other games where i had more of an average hand, only 2 actions really is not enough to get things done.

specially that weird moment where you cant use more than 2 or 3 cards, so you actually dont end up drawing much if any, at the end of the turn. giving a wasteful feeling.

this does seem like a fun game to play, and has a bit more depth than what meets the eye. but for now the balance is far too skewed for me to enjoy it honestly.

id like to see a expansion or revision in the future, which can even the tides.

a lot of games have done this, such as my personal favorite. Star Wars Rebellion, pre expansion was lack luster, but post is a whole new world.

looking forward to some changes.

Interestingly, the more I play this game, the more balanced I feel it is 🤔

This is very interesting. I came to this forum wondering if other players also thought it was unbalanced toward a German advantage, and it seems that it's the other way around.

I've played 7 games. 6 victories for Germany, 1 victory for Soviet (my very first game with my friend and myself being totally beginners).
What am I doing wrong?

After one week of statistics (50 games / day)

Axis faction win the game: 50.77
Allies faction win the game: 49.04
