Board Game Arena

I hover around Good level but mostly just below, I play Normal to Fast mostly, using about half the clock. Recently, I've noticed people have started conceding games of RftG, one or two turns from the end. What's the general feeling about this?

My first reaction is that it's kinda rude. My thoughts are it's a short game, ten minutes maximum. It doesn't take long for a game to end, so why end a short game even earlier? I don't come from other backgrounds of Magic or Chess, where conceding is normal (I believe). Thing is, there seems to be friendly "gl hf" types doing it now, not just those that ignore you. I wonder if it's usual/accepted for Masters and higher to play this way. I like tabletop games where some manners and consideration are expected, would be disappointed if BGA RtfG became all "quit-when-I-can't-win". For the record, I sit to the end of a crushing defeat, every time.

Is this normal behaviour? Is it new?

People don't like to lose, then when know they will lose, concede the game.

I prefer it before some "quitters"

I see it as a way someone denies the satisfaction of seeing the final outcome. It's kinda of petty. In chess there's a time to concede when the outcome is several moves away and the only chance for victory is stalemate that isn't going to happen and it's considered a little rude to finish out play as in,"I think there's a chance you don't know how to checkmate me with a king and rook and I'm just gonna be annoying by continuing to play even though there is no chance of victory." In race it's petty not to finish since that certainty is only usually confirmed in the last few moves.
