Cursing text insult from account that immediately deletes

So I just won a game of arena rummy and got an angry, swearing, name calling text message from the player. Immediately after verbally attacking me, they deleted their account so there is no way to report it.

But I’m thinking what a strange thing. Because their account is now deleted, I can’t go in and look at how many types of games they played, how long on bga, their karma, and i cant report them. but they obviously played rummy on BGA enough to get 100 ELO play in the arena.

Can someone delete an account and then open them again in a few days? I’m wondering if this person does this as a pattern. Play a game they lose, break the rules texting vicious insults, shut down the account for a few days so they can’t reported, and then do it all over again?

Has anybody else had this happen?

Yes. See this thread.
I see from that for that people can create a new account and fairly easily get enough ELO to play in the arena. But it didn’t say anywhere if they can restart an account they shut down?

I usually set rating filters on my games, which tends to improve behavior among other benefits, including making it much less likely for such a player to be paired against me. I checked the BGA F.A.Q and was surprised this wasn't covered in their account deletion section. What does it even mean to delete an account beyond the initial account is hidden bit? I guess you can test by making an alt and playing 1 game to see if it will remember that information after deleting and trying to come back on that account. My assumption was that the account was permanently gone and you can't get it back, I'd be surprised if the e-mail could even make a new account. But I have nothing to back that up.

I was responding only to the part of your post I quoted with the belief that "this" in "Has anybody else had this happen?" was referring to having someone swear at you, then delete their account.

By the way, you also said "so there is no way to report it," and I reported wrote in that other thread that I was able to report it and got a response from BGA.

As for whether a deleted account can be revived, I haven't checked to see if that other account ever came back and I haven't personally tried it or seen someone say they've successfully done it.

Thanks, Meeplowda

Could you please tell me how you found the link for the email? It is practically impossible to actually reach anybody at all, trying to make a complaint. I don’t know how you found a link to an email.

I think it’s too bad when someone does this, We can’t still see their account at all.

I also miss the opportunity to look at the match history of deleted accounts, although for a different reason (to learn from top players). Interestingly, if a player deletes their account, all of their games remain on record, but I can only find it via their opponents, which is very tedious and inefficient. Is there a better way to list the games history of a deleted player?
