Can anyone set up a game and teach on or two of us to play?
Not really on to jump in cold.

It’s possible to setup a solo/turn-based/friendly (no time limit) and I’ve learned by playing and keep diving back into the rules especially for the Wakhan decisions. After five solo sessions I think I’ve got it and finally beat the Wakhan.

But you might already know about the solo option and, as you say, are looking for a human coach/buddy.

Yeah the solo version can be brutal, but you can at least learn the mechanics of the game.
Also at large player counts there is a certain amount of diplomacy and/or bash-the-leader tactics. So even as a beginner not really knowing what's happening, you are not ruining the game for others.

Purple cards are like free plays.
Look to see what free actions you get for the active suit.
Get a feel for when it's spies or troops to win the round.

There are some good videos available via the game page by Pete Krause of Modern Cardboard. He’s a good ‘coach’ and patiently goes through what is quite a nuanced complex set of mechanisms.

I’m still learning but happy to setup a turn based friendly game with you. I’m in England.

Jump in, it’ll be okay. It took a game to have any idea what I was doing. Just watch the linked how to play and read the summarized rules. Then just join a turn based game….read rules again as you play and try and make decisions. Go for it.
